Carnation
CULTURE. Men and women holding pink or red carnations in their right hand are common in portraits by 17th-century Dutch painters. The flower was a common symbol of marital love and the hope for eternal life.
COLOUR EFFECT. Since the invention of acrylic paints, that greatly facilitated the production of pinks, pink has become an outspokenly modernist colour. Rose Dore is neither warm nor cold. For this reason, it harmonises well with the warm Jonquil, Pale Lemon and icy Glacial White.
